These Smelly Proof Bags are definitely odor proof. I bought a set of 5 extra large bags for a 3 day out of town trip. And they really keep food smells inside. I used a Smelly Proof bag inside with my wire lining bag while my climbing buddy didn't. And on the first night of the trip we woke up to find a little raccoon hanging from her feeder bag trying to get at the food inside while my feeder bag remained intact with a stink proof bag hanging next to her bag. an extra bag, we repacked all her food into a Smelly Proof bag, hung up her feed bag again and had no further problems with the little raccoon for the rest of the trip. A very large bag will hold quite a bit of food, at least 2-3 days. Like regular ziplock bags, they fold easily to release excess air and shrink to make the bag easier to fit in a grocery bag. Also, I haven't had any issues with pouch tears at or near the seal. Since Smelly Proof bags come in multiple quantities, I set aside a pouch for puppy poop bags for when we go camping. Even in a perfumed bin liner, the stench can be unbearable. And Smelly Proof is amazing at keeping odors in your pocket. I can say these are my favorite reusable odor resistant bags for hiking, camping, and backpacking.
