Review on Feit Electric Lumen Equivalent ESL65TN by Crystal Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Look before you jump.

These lamps are essential when used correctly! We have an unfinished basement with 9 foot ceilings and a garage with 12 foot ceilings. Both came with standard ceramic sockets and 60W bulbs. Both were dimly lit and gloomy. I was thinking about replacing ceramic with fluorescent bulbs when I came across these bulbs. Since we had a gap to the ceiling I decided we should try it. It was December 2009. I installed 5 of these and we've been very happy with them ever since. They turn on instantly, but it takes a short while before they reach full brightness. We didn't notice any hum or other noise from them. They don't have the horrible clinical "feel" that most fluorescent bulbs give off, and are a little less "yellow" than your standard incandescent bulbs. The outside temperature does not affect them. Those in the garage (used all year round) are already in their second winter. We treat them like any other lightbulb and they are used several times a week - often several times a day. I don't know what to do with the reviewers who have complained and lowered their ratings because of their size - considering the size. clearly stated in the description. If you don't have an application for a bulb this size, why would you buy it? You wouldn't buy a size 15 shoe if you had a size 12; Would you mind? If you need bulbs this size, buy them!

Pros
  • CFL TECHNOLOGY - The latest energy efficient compact fluorescent lamp technology uses significantly less energy, up to 73% less energy than an equivalent incandescent lamp. Compared to lamp life, long-life compact fluorescent lamps fail less often, last longer and produce denser, flicker-free light. CFL bulbs are cooler than incandescent bulbs and have the added benefit of being a more economical option for high lumen/watt bulbs.
