Review on Bovee WMA3000B Wireless Interface Integration by Jon Larjin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A worthy improvement over BMW's "Hands-free Bluetooth and USB " + iDrive system, but it still falls short of the infotainment system in modern cars.

A week has passed, it's still worth the money. With the Bovee WMA3000B, BMW models that can use it (such as those with a USB port and 1/8-inch jack under the armrests) still don't offer modern Bluetooth phone integration, but it does massive improvement over the standard - although the gadget has its own set of features. In the 2014 BM 3 and 5, the car already acted as a speakerphone for calls, but I was surprised to learn that BMW's "Bluetooth integration" didn't push my phone to an all-purpose level. sound source in the car. The Bovee WMA3000B improves on this, allowing the iPhone to be used as an audio source through the car's sound system, which is what I need for the podcasts, music and audio apps available on my phone. Even with Bovee, BMW still doesn't render the current podcast, album art, or anything from the iPhone's display. On the iPhone, this registers as a wireless headset ("Tune2Air"), so changing the volume on your iPhone changes the volume in this Bovee has no controls and only a blue light to let you know it's working. So there's no way to switch the Bovee from one phone to the other when both phones are in the car, unless you turn off Bluetooth on one of them. If there is a way to call Siri from the car controls, I haven't found it. It took several attempts to successfully pair it with my phone. Overall, the BMW infotainment system on my Bimmer lagged behind many of its contemporaries, including the MyFordTouch system on my 2013 Ford Explorer, which was unreliable (although firmware updates have since improved it). ). Ford seemed barely competitive in 2013, but my BMW's "hands-free Bluetooth and USB" + iDrive system isn't as good as Ford's, but with Bovee it's getting closer and closer to adequate. Bovee usefully improves on BMW's OEM system and the features it has added to my BMW are worth the price to me.
