I think it carbonates the wine well. In any case, there is a difference in taste before and after the infusion. My husband finds the carafe so thin and fragile that he would like to buy another one. i think it's ok It's thin glass, but I guess it comes down to personal preference. Our wine glasses are very heavy Waterford crystal, so he's used to it. He uses these crystal Waterford glasses almost every day, because there is no point in storing such a beautiful wedding gift in the cupboard and not enjoying it, but only pulling it out on special occasions. I agree, but have found that since I bought cheap stemless wine glasses from Costco a few months ago, I prefer them to Waterford glasses. (I wanted to use them as pretty glasses.) It's not just because they're dishwasher safe, I think it's because they're thin glass and lightweight. So personal preference for the weight of the carafe. But the aerator is great.
