Review on πŸ”· Jagwire AVID Disc Brake Pads by Ethan Carpenter

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I think the stock AVID BB7 brake pads were better.

I've got about 1200 miles on these pads now on my 90 lb electric tadpole bike with 203mm rotors and BB7. They are ok but nothing special. Yes, they work, but the stock AVID pads they replaced with the previous smaller 180mm rotors had about the same stopping power as those pads that ran on the larger 203mm rotors. They feel soft and plush compared to the stock AVID brake pads. So when it comes time to replace them, I'll probably go back to the stock AVID pads in the calipers, which also fade less. I'm glad I went with the larger 203mm discs with replacement pads, otherwise I would have thrown those pads away as their performance would be inferior to AVID's for the same disc diameter. The noise depends on the conditions, but with a cold squeak it is much less, although it is the same as at the drain. brake pads AVID after warming up; However, you'll still hear the ripple in the rotor slots, so not a huge change other than you get less stopping power. Not sure I care about the squeak if your brakes aren't that effective. They come with a small clip to separate the pads.
