Review on Pentek STANDARD 34 PR 10 Standard Filter Housing by Chris Burns

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This ticks all the boxes. Very durable construction.

Ordered to replace the one shown in the first picture where the transparent body broke suddenly and without warning, releasing a lot of water quickly. Luckily it was in the garage and was spotted immediately. My criterion for the replacement was something more reliable. This Pentek block consists of a much thicker body with larger stiffeners. It was easy to install and will fit regular 10" pickups within a certain diameter range. It comes without a mounting bracket, wrench, or installation guide, so here are some tips. Forget the wrench for now. It has a top seat pad and you can grab the body and tighten it by hand. There are several matching $6 mounting brackets online that work well. It attaches with four holes in the top of the case. As shown in the second picture, I tapped the holes with a 1/4" x 20 tap and secured with 3/4" stainless steel screws of the same size. You can probably use appropriate self-tapping screws as well. The inlet and outlet are 3/4" NPT threads and you'll need fittings that size to connect them to your lines. Pipe grease on body threads. It may be an overstatement, but this method has always made my projects leak-free - once and for all .As with all plastics, don't over-tighten the fittings, they go most of the way with your fingers and then just need to be tightened with a wrench. The body comes with a lightly greased o-ring, but I did applied a little more and also a bit on the threads, which in my opinion makes it easier to change the filter.Instructions for changing the filter including the use of a pressure relief valve are included.Overall, the device makes a very solid and well-made impression and feels like it. Although it comes without a mounting bracket, the price allows for a good margin. Mounting and wiring was really easy and no Le cks.

Cons
