More for experienced tatters

I have been tattooing for over 45 years and have been teaching it in public education classes for 3 years for which I have written the tatting textbook The Beginning of Tatting: A. . Textbook: Collection of applied arts. Although I have occasionally bought these shuttles for my students, I have found that beginners find them a bit frustrating. The hook tends to accidentally catch on the threads as they pass through hands during the weaving process, which is frustrating for beginners. Since I generally find that a small hook is often best to eliminate mistakes when they happen anyway, a spool hook is a liability. Of course, for a newbie, this is more of a problem than they want to deal with. Learning a skill is hard enough. For more advanced lobs, this is definitely a plus as the needle is always where it's needed, meaning no crochet hook to hunt for! Since the shuttle is easily wound with a detachable spool, Boyle's shuttles are actually a good idea for experienced shredders; You can leave a few extra bobbins wound to replace the finished one, which speeds up the actual process of weaving the motif. I've often thought that bobbins could be used with a sewing machine to wind them up quickly, but unfortunately I've never managed to get it to work; they just don't fit on the spindle - maybe I just don't have the right sewing machine! Since they are relatively small they don't hold as much standard crochet thread as I would like for larger designs - which I prefer the Tatsy shuttle for anyway - but they are perfect for standard tatting thread used in bridal and other laces . They are certainly more than sufficient for ordinary sewing threads used in making note cards and children's lace. As always, when buying these shuttles online, be mindful of how much shipping costs. One day I realized that I would pay almost $60 to order 16 shuttles! Of course. Be aware of how much shipping will cost you. One day I realized that I would pay almost $60 to order 16 shuttles!
