Unreliable Bobbins Ruin Tatting Project

After trying this product, I was extremely disappointed in the quality and performance. The bobbins constantly snagged and broke my thread, causing me to start over multiple times. As someone who enjoys Arts and Crafts, this was a complete waste of time and money. The only pro was that the colors were pretty, but that didn't make up for the cons. I would not recommend this product to anyone in the Tatting & Lacemaking community.

Pros
  • Gorgeous Caribbean colors make these shuttle bobbins stand out from other tatting supplies.
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

The little hook at the end is very handy. .

The hook at the end is very useful. The bobbin didn't spin as smoothly as I expected, but it might be the type of yarn I was using. I'll try again with something thinner.

Pros
  • Quality workmanship
Cons
  • Can't remember

Not a fan of this shuttle. Although I prefer the hook to the more common tip, the spool is too difficult to turn. I loosen more thread for working rings and then rewrap the excess when working with chains. The bobbin is too stiff and does not rotate easily, making it very difficult to change the length of the working line. The edges of the coils themselves are made of sharp-edged plastic, making them uncomfortable for your fingers to spin. I imagined these reels spinning a bit more freely than…

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • obsolete model
