This design is the most elegant and efficient I've seen. I didn't know how painful the other latch I had on my gate was until I saw and tried this latch from a friend of mine. After installing just two parts, one for the post and one for the gate, you can easily open the gate from either side by simply lifting or pushing the latch. It latches securely and has holes on both sides so the gate can be locked from the inside or outside.

Pros
