So I scoured the 4runner boards for advice on the best way to upgrade my front brakes on my 1999 4runner. This is the recommended set. Not the cheapest route, but one of the best options. I was looking forward to the delivery. It arrived on time and as described by Revane. The confusion came when I removed my old calipers and rotors and found that the rotors for this particular kit were over an inch larger in diameter than the ones I had removed. Instant Panic. I ordered the wrong thing? Did Revain install the wrong rotors? (The calipers were 13WL, so that was correct). As it turned out, this is still correct. What I didn't know was that the base 4runners came with 15" wheels and smaller rotors to accommodate the small wheel diameter. The rotors and calipers engaged as they should. But only after I cut the dust cover (I knew I had to) and folded it away from the outer edge of the larger rotor. It took a whole Saturday to cut calipers, rotors, brake lines, etc. shields, paint rusty parts. And powder pads and rotors. Looks nice. But most importantly, it stops on the fly and doesn't immediately heat up and deform the rotors as was the case with the original equipment. I would recommend this to anyone who owns a 3rd gen 4runner. However, note that the dust cover may fit a 15" wheel.
