In the preface to this review I would like to say that I have been figure skating for over ten years. It's important to realize that figure skates (and hockey skates) must be sized to provide adequate support for safety and comfort. Unfortunately, pair skates are not the kind of sporting gear you can buy in the hopes of your child growing up, and wearing thick socks is not a solution as it could put the skater at risk of spraining an ankle or something worse sprain. said I bought these Jackson recreational skates for my mom who hasn't skated in at least 30 years. I was pleased with both the support offered and the accuracy of the fit. No, they are not delivered sharpened. If you go on the ice before sharpening, grab a coffee filter and some vegetable oil and apply it to the blades to make sure the factory glue doesn't come off.
