This is the most compact and economical thing you can find as an early warning system for leaks or moisture exposure. Comes with a 7ft cable that connects to the sensor and that you connect to the brain of the device with a 3.5mm phono plug. Easy to install, connect to the internet and configure to receive notifications. The controller box is disconnected from the USB port/power supply. So if the sensor needs to be further away, you can probably use a male-to-female USB extension cable. Keep in mind that if you need an extension cable longer than 16ft 5in, you should probably consider using an "active" USB signal cable. Unpredictable results can occur if you behave unwisely. Pros: No batteries. Simple, lightweight, works on a standard outlet. Cons: 1) Requires household power to operate (obviously). 2) Do you need Wi-Fi at home to be active (of course). 3) Routes communication through the Proteus cloud server (intermediary). If any of these three things don't work, you'll be blinded for the duration. However, you can always connect it to an emergency power supply (UPS) and leave it running for hours if your power supply is unreliable. All in all a good block and lots of peace of mind especially for those unfortunate enough to have a water heater in the attic. !
