Review on Honeywell F300E1027 Electronic Performance Air Filter by Francisco Russell

Nice filter box

Nice. I bought this to replace a much older Honeywell unit that died after 20 years - although there are still spares for it I thought it was about time. I'm definitely taken aback by some of the reviews - the unit comes with a 3 pin 110/120V AC plug. It is designed to be installed on the intake side of your furnace or air handling unit, either horizontally or vertically. It features 3 stages of filtration - the pre-filter is a washable metal mesh designed to capture the largest particles and dust. The electronic plate filter (also washable) serves to catch the remaining particles. The post filter is a fine mesh disposable filter - I'm curious to see how long it lasts. It naturally produces/will produce some ozone, but not enough to ever notice it (and people, including myself, can smell incredibly low levels of ozone, well below dangerous levels).

Pros
  • Solid state power supply is self-regulating and maintains maximum efficiency over a wide range of cell loading conditions with dirt
Cons
  • Expensive filter box
