Review on FELL Marine Wireless Switch Basepack by Josue Zepeda

Great unit and works very well

As a lifelong sailor I have seen many people throw themselves unexpectedly from their boats including myself. Everything is usually fine, but when it's not, people die. If you ever forgot to put on your bracelet, this is the device you need. I am very impressed with the functionality and I think this should be standard on any new boat of any size. With the ignition on, I have to push a button on the key fob to start the boat. It reminds me to make sure the key fob is attached to my body before moving. I keep my keychain in a small drawstring pouch that attaches to the carabiner and just clip it to me. I think the bracelet is overkill. The only real problem I've encountered is the "boot" time. After you turn on the boat ignition, it takes a few seconds before you can press the button on the key fob and start sailing. I feel that if I have to leave in a hurry, like being run over by a drunk pleasure boat, it could be a safety issue. So when drifting, I prefer to leave the ignition on and kill the engine with the kill switch instead of turning it off with the key. If you have an outboard, installation can be difficult. I had to disassemble the control box for my engine as it contains the ignition, kill switch and other associated wiring. Connecting this wiring in the limited space of the control box and routing it to my dash was no easy task. I ended up using Scotchlock wire couplers, which is far from ideal in a marine environment. I lubricated everything with grease to prevent corrosion. I think the device would be very easy to install if your switch and ignition were dash mounted.
