I'll get to the problem in a moment. The problem is that this adapter bracket is missing the 4 bottom mounting holes that all 3.5" hard drives have. It has holes to properly attach a 2.5" drive to the bracket, but the bracket in turn MUST be installed through the side mounting holes. Mounting options for all 3.5" drives include side and bottom brackets. All of these holes must be tapped for standard computer screw threads, which are #6-32. You must use the 3.5" holes for the bottom bracket. There are no mounting holes on these adapter brackets! Wanting to complete my project and also not have to deal with returning $6.50 worth of stuff, I went ahead and carefully measured, drilled and tapped 4 matching #6-32 holes on the bottom. Then they worked fine for me! It was a hassle I didn't need, and to be honest I'm pretty sure most people who would get it wouldn't be in the mood for it, even if they wanted it for some weird reason. Anyway, I would have given these adapter brackets 5 stars if it weren't for the lack of those bottom holes, but it's actually a pretty glaring omission, hence the 2 stars. If you can do without side mounting holes these are good solid powder coated steel mounts. For myself I wouldn't buy these again, even if I plan on just using the side holes. The reason is future flexibility. If they ever end up in my inventory I want to make sure they work in all the usual ways.
