History: I have a 2001 Passat that still works but sometimes has the pesky maintenance issues that a 17 year old car has. About two years ago the left hand window had the same problem as mine, when I ordered this the regulator sounded like key plastic parts had self destructed and the window fell into the door. Two years ago I gave my car to my mechanic because I needed to fix it and didn't have time to do it. bottom line? Over $500 for parts and labor - they replace the entire inner door panel. My passenger window had the same problem today. Not wanting a repeat of the mechanic's $500 bill, I assumed those little plastic clips were the only part that failed. I was right. I ordered them in the morning, same day delivery. Came home from work and took the door panel off. Stopped for dinner and managed to get the parts installed in time for the end of the night. Removing the inner door panel is a little tricky, but there are great videos online to walk you through the main steps. Anyway, this part saved me over $485 on a trip to the mechanic and broke my window in less than a day.
