Range can be a little unpredictable, especially around buildings, but the warning it gives was all I needed after a hit and I had it it expects. My dog has only been shocked once or twice and now when he beeps he runs towards me or with his back to the sensor. Now I really just have to keep it to myself. Once the collar is put on, it will not come off. The only problem we ever had was that when other dogs were around he wanted to run and play and couldn't stop himself. He will now sit quietly alongside other dogs as well, unless told to go play and remove the collar. The problem is solved.
