The thing is pretty loud. I'm not sure if this works or not as some people in the reviews say they've used this on a six bucket hydroponic system, but it doesn't seem to provide enough air for my two bucket system. I thought I had a ring-shaped bubble curtain, but the bubbles only seem to come out where the air intake connects to the drip line. As I've seen in youtube videos and several articles and in some molds I used a quarter inch drip tube to make a ring shaped air stone with a couple of washers to hold it in place. It would be nice if they added a silencer to the air intake or even made it submersible, then I could at least throw it in one of the buckets and put a hose for the air intake so you don't hear it vibrate. all house.
