Not Makita at its best

After a few weeks of use I'm not satisfied. This isn't Makita's best effort. I recently invested in some Makita LXT tools (which are great) and wanted to maximize my investment by replacing my cheap Black & Decker BDH2000SLB vacuum with a Makita so I only have one type of battery and charger. It didn't work the way I hoped it would, and here's why. CONS: *Suction sucks, compared to $38 Black & Decker. The B&D has almost twice the suction power, so the hand is pressed against the nozzle almost like a full-blown vacuum cleaner. Makita is weak and fragile in comparison. * Expensive - more than twice the price of B&D and half the price - I expect the Makita to be better, not worse, at the premium price. * The blunt, spring-loaded trigger switch must be held at all times. B&D has a much more useful slide switch. If you vacuum your Makita for a long time, you will have to change your fingers because they get tired.* Poorly designed filter with small surface area that is easily clogged and difficult to clean. I think a brush is good for cleaning, but B&D has an automotive-style pleated filter that you can just smack on the inside of the canister, much messier, clog-resistant, and easier to clean. * Poorly designed Mudmount coupe. Perfectly round, no buttons, so it can be placed in the wrong position where it won't snap. Stupid. *The battery in this kit was just loose with no Makita packaging - is this a real Makita or a fake? One reviewer complained that it died after a few months, which doesn't look like the real Makita. The button to check my battery level is not attached and doesn't look like my other Makita.PRO batteries* If you already have Makita LXT tools/batteries/chargers, this vacuum can use the same batteries* Comfortable rubberized grip* It is nice that it comes with extension and floor mount. If it had more suction, the floorhead would work much better.* Pretty quiet for this type of vacuum. straight back where it scatters everything you try to suck dah! And he makes a very high pitched and loud noise, like a banshee screaming. So it's not perfect either, but once you learn to always move forward, not backward, through the chaos, and if you wear earbuds, then at least you're getting some really strong suction for your money with B&D. Well, you must continue your search for the perfect handheld vacuum.
