Let's clear something up - maybe you could build this. But if you're like me, $40 is a small price compared to a day job that the wife wanted done yesterday; To the right? However, there are two things that require attention. 1) DO NOT USE A TEMPLATE. I immediately noticed that the template was significantly larger than the actual arch opening. The sun was going down and I decided not to think about it. I followed the pattern. and it turned out to have a hole so much larger than the insert that the 3M tape didn't even make full contact with the door (but dangled into the opening). Instead of using their template I suggest turning one of the pieces upside down and drawing a groove on a piece of paper yourself before you possibly ruin a very nice solid wood door. 2) adhesive tape. 3M makes good stuff and it's the same tape that holds all the trim to the outside of your car. but there are only four 1" pieces on these arches. Having kids? Want that thing you permanently modified to stay on your door? ADD SCREWS! . I will putty the heads of the screws and paint them later.
