The filter appears to be lightweight, but so far has proven reliable. Unless you try to put a lid on it, it should hold up very well. The lid stayed securely in place while I hopped my last IPA. Many have complained that the holes in the lid are too big, but I have found that as the hop pellets expand, they form a sufficient cork to prevent the solids from escaping. I definitely wouldn't use it to add cooking hops as it's not strong enough to handle that type of environment. I use it for dry hopping in a stainless steel fermenter, but it's too big for dry hopping in a machine. He will fit into a banal barrel. All in all it was a nice addition to my brewery.
