I agree the toy isn't perfect but it's great for a small bird. For example, this short video shows how my budgies usually interact with her. To be clear, this isn't the only toy they enjoy. They also spend quite a bit of playtime with any toy that has a doner kebab on it. However, they love the trellis chain so much that I bought a few (they're cheap). I keep one in the cage, two on the bass outside the cage, and one on the play stand. My thoughts on pros and cons: Pros1. The bird loves it.2. It's colorful.3. Easy to rearrange grid balls.4. Easy to clean.5. The call can be replaced (see cons). Disadvantages1. Not all bells work. Sometimes you will come across a toy where the bell doesn't ring. Instead of returning the toy, you can replace the bell if you wish. Some toys, such as Mac's Spinner Natural Bird Toy, have large bells and can be easily disassembled. You can use one of these bells instead of the bell on this toy. Or you can just buy a pack of 3-5 bells like Paradise Cowbells. The problem is that a bag of bells will most likely cost more than this toy. Go to Fig.2. Probably not for birds larger than the budgie. I was surprised to see a cockatiel on the product packaging. The connectors are very small (yellow things that connect the balls in a chain). The balls detach from the connections without much pressure. My budgie can't exert that much pressure even when it's rocking on a toy, but it looks like an average parrot. I'm fine with your bird playing with individual balls as well, but I'm not sure how many people will want to buy a "chain" if it doesn't stay that way for long :)---
