Not working as advertised

I've seen so many reviews from people saying how well this works by extracting the audio stream from the HDMI signal and sending it somewhere else over an optical cable. Sounds great until it doesn't work anymore! I tried several configurations with it: 1) PC -> Extractor -> TV and Receiver (Displayport to HDMI via active adapter) 2) PC -> Extractor -> TV and Receiver. (HDMI port)3) PC -> Extractor -> Receiver (HDMI) +AND+ PC -> TV (HDMI separated)4) PC -> Extractor -> Receiver (Displayport to HDMI via active adapter) +AND+ PC -> TV (HDMI) 5) PC -> Extractor -> Receiver (HDMI) + AND+ PC -> TV (Displayport to HDMI via active adapter) 6) Chromecast -> Extractor -> TV and Receiver I have also tried all these configurations with audio Stream switch in all 3 positions. As you can clearly see in my screenshot, the device is recognized as an HDMI splitter and will recognize many of the audio stream formats specified in the listing, such as . B. "Supports HDMI High Bit Rate (HBR)." Rates up to 192 kHz "Although my system recognizes that this device supports DTS, DD and DD+, they are still only sent as two-channel streams. No matter what I do, my computer does NOT recognize it as having more than two channels tried using chromecast to make sure not only my computer is the problem, but still no 5.1 channel audio and yes all my drivers and software are up to date.

Pros
  • Outputs HDMI audio (2CH PCM, Bitstream DTS & Dolby Digital 5.1Ch and Dolby Digital Plus) to Toslink optical output; Extracts 2CH PCM/LPCM to 3.5mm analog headphone output; All higher HDMI audio signals are only available through the HDMI output/pass-through.
