Inexpensive solution to bridge a defective factory radio

This was a cheap fix that helped me bypass the broken factory radio on my 2005 Accord LX. The installation was quite agonizing (took me about 5 hours but this was my first time connecting the harness myself). I had an old Sony AM/FM/CD with a single din block with an aux jack. Going down this route, instead of hauling another $30 factory radio off the junkyard, I ended up with an aux jack that the factory unit doesn't have. And who knows, maybe the junkyard replacement just failed, as did the original unit (a common problem with the 7th Gen Accord LX).
