Some time ago, I started an upgrade and assembled a computer in an itx case, in connection with which I parted ways with my favorite sound system Asus Xonar Essence ST. Although I have never been an audiophile, I can tell a bad sound from a good one. So it was a very difficult decision for me. I hoped that the ALC1220 chip on the new mother would not let us down. Didn't disappoint. The quality is very good. for a built-in chip. Nevertheless, listening to music on a working computer (where Xonar crawled), each time I told myself that without a normal sound system, this is not life. And as a result, I began to look for external sound with a humane price and high quality. This is where the SB G6 turned up. Without hesitation, I went and bought it. Well . Yes, this is exactly what I wanted, and what I missed after the asus. The sound quality is great! (I have Audio-Technica AD700 ears). There is simply nothing to add here, it’s better to go over the subtleties, obvious and not so: Software for configuration - only under Windows. However, on MacOS (I also have an iMac) it can be used to its full potential. Improver settings made under Windows (sound virtualization, equalizers, etc.) are perfectly stored in memory even when the sound card is turned off, and are switched by the SBX button on the case. Work with sampling frequency up to 48 kHz. Direct mode can be enabled on a Mac using the Audio-MIDI Setup utility. Frequencies up to 384 kHz (24 or 32 bits) are available. The SBX settings are disabled, but not reset. You can always turn them back on. Backlight: the top (X) and the volume control are turned off through the Windows utility, the side buttons and indicators are not, they are always on. In sleep mode (S3), the card does not turn off either on Windows or MacOS. The LEDs do not turn off. We'll have to turn off the power of the usb port with scripts. It heats up weakly, but it also heats up in sleep mode. The volume control is a little crooked. Just disrespectful to customers. However, it is still digital, the volume can also be adjusted by software. P. S. I wanted to bet 4, but my hand did not rise. Yet such things are bought for the sound. And here he is on 5+.
