I am very unimpressed

I am very unimpressed. I have been using water stones for over 20 years. Arkansas stones, oil stones, ceramic stones, blah blah blah. Used a set of diamond plates for about 3 years. You know. sharpening tools, pocket knives and kitchen knives. I use a barber belt to maintain my kitchen knives. I can safely say that I am familiar with such devices for use and care. I got them in the mail the other day and wanted to try them out. So I got my sharpening oil and a crappy semi-dull old 440 stainless steel pocket knife. I'm not impressed with the quality of these files. I know the tips wear down the diamonds on new ones, smoothing them out a little, a little, not much. One of my hobbies is working with leather. I wanted to take care of my large pair of scissors and my wife's sewing scissors. Unfortunately, the square and the surrounding area now have bare patches. This is after a single use of light blue honing liquid. I used them lightly. I don't know if Revane will take them back, but I will never buy anything from ez-lap again. They are of the same quality as port freight at the lower end. I expected to pay 5-7 dollars there.

Pros
  • hand tools
Cons
  • boring packaging
