We had to buy a new dishwasher because our old one broke. As with most energy efficient machines, the heated dryer will not work on plastic items. As we have a baby and young children our entire top shelf is made up almost entirely of plastic paraphernalia. We dried half of the dishes by hand every day; I hated cleaning the dishwasher every day. When we bought a new washing machine, the saleswoman threw a full rinse aid into this cascade. I was skeptical, but after running the dishwasher and still seeing wet plastic, I decided to give it a try. Doesn't matter! Almost all plastic utensils are completely dry. Other glassware is impeccable. Now I love my dishwasher - it washes and dries perfectly. I don't think I'll ever do a batch without it!
