Review on Corsair Carbide Series 678C: The Ultimate Low Noise Tempered Glass ATX Case in Black by Darth Naubert

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good hard drive case and for those who don't want a full size tower

Pros: Supports e-ATX boards despite being an ATX case Can hold up to 8 3.5 hard drives (Corsair only includes 6 hard drives Drive trays) Drives) 3 x 2.5 HDD trays on the back and a DVD drive bay on the top Plenty of space for cable management High quality panels and good color on the white case Fan controller that can drive 6 fans connected via a SATA cable Disadvantages : Vertical graphics card CPU can be difficult in this case if you have a 3 slot card like ftw3 since it only supports 2 slots or if you have a high card like Gaming x Trio which supports the Hard drive bays can get in the way. The front panel is made of plastic and has no ventilation holes. If you don't open the front, for the price you'd expect some RGB fans to show up at, things might get tight if you have a long or thick GPU (maybe it's just me as I have a lot of hard drives ). The case is great but could be better priced as for a case around $200 it's not worth it. Wish Corsair installed the remaining 2 3.5" hard drive bays and the front bezel was not plastic. As for airflow, make sure you have plenty of top fans pulling air out of the top vents when you close the front. Updated with tested GPU1. Vertical mounting of the Evga Ftw3 is not possible due to three slots, conventional mounting is not a problem, but comes very close to the second HDD cage from below2. The Msigaming x Trio GPU is very long, so you need to remove the 2nd hard drive bay and/or the 3rd hard drive bay to install it. The vertical bracket must be removed before the third hard drive bay due to the length and height of the card3. The Gigabyte aorus xtreme GPU fits in easily and when mounted vertically there is no problem with the hard drive bay. To install Asus Matrix, you need to remove the second hard drive cage, but it is recommended to remove the third. Vertical mounting is also best for removing the third hard drive bay.
