My search for a USB 3.0 hub with power button for my son's Xbox One found the following! Pros: + Reasonable price of $14.99 with Revain free shipping when I bought this. + Good product for customer reviews. + Simple plug and play installation. + Fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 devices. + No external power supply required. + Power button and blue power indicator. VERY short and VERY tight! This limitation is because the hub can be placed, especially when using the Xbox One's rear USB ports. - When I connected the connected USB cable, it seemed to me that it was loose. - There are no protective/non-slip feet on the bottom of the USB hub. Case in point?Xbox One specific comments: βͺ When we plugged in the Touro S 1TB hard drive, did the light come on and stay on when the Xbox One was powered off? I contacted HGST support to see if the Touro S hard drive has built-in power management. The answer I got was "no". This means that the Touro S hard drive will spin as long as the USB port is powered! Touro S LED is on = hard drive is working. Rotation! βͺ My research shows that the Xbox One has two power management options; "Instant on" and "Energy saving". When the Xbox One is set to "Instant On", the USB ports will still have +5V (power) even when they are turned off, so all connected devices will continue to work. To turn off +5V (power) from the USB ports, the Xbox One must be set to Sleep. βͺ The disadvantage of the "Low Power Mode" setting is that the system cannot automatically download updates in the background and you cannot wake up your Xbox One with your voice. The console also wakes up more slowly since it was off and not in "deep sleep" as it would be with the "Instant On" power setting. βͺ The positive side of the "Low Power Mode" setting is that no USB device will work. B. an external USB hard drive when not needed. If you don't use a mechanical device when it's not needed, you save energy and extend its lifespan! βͺ A workaround for those who want to keep the Xbox One in "Instant On" mode is to install a USB 3.0 hub with a power button. This allows you to manually turn off the USB power and turn off the external hard drive when not in use. :)
