Okay I didn't feed the birds and squirrels as quickly as I should have. One day the truck started to malfunction and gave out a few check engine codes. On my engine, a bad injector connector is usually the most common problem. So I unplugged the next injector. It's a tricky latch lever configuration, but the connector looked nice. Checked the second, also normal. Then I looked at the firewall again and saw that the end of the connector was missing three inches of wire. Apparently some bloody furry rodent decided he needed the wire more than I did. I ordered this part and tried it on the injector connector and it fits like a glove or like a glove or whatever you prefer. The connector came in an original Delco bag with simple instructions and two crimp butt connections. I'm an Electrical Engineer, a former electrical contractor, and have built and installed dozens of electrical panels, so I like to think I know what I'm doing. The butt connections were too big for the pigtail on the connector and pulled out easily after crimping. And after several attempts to squeeze them. These are a great idea and they have the added benefit of heat shrink tubing around the butt joint to seal the joint, but they just didn't work for me. I ended up soldering the wires together, paying special attention to polarity (which wire goes where - don't know if that matters, but I took care just in case). I highly recommend googling "how to splice like a rocket scientist" to find out NASA's preferred method of splicing wires. Also put a small piece of corrugated tubing over the wire before soldering them together. So I soldered them together, shrunk the tubing onto the connectors with a heat gun, and then hid them in the wiring harness. I also ran tape over the wires so it starts and ends in the harness so it doesn't unravel over time. Of course it had to be the widest injector, and I'm old and a bit erect. problematic (not overweight - I'm short), and the weather is unbearably hot, so installing it was just a joy. If you've read up to this point I'll say the connector works fine, but I recommend finding another way to connect the wires.
