Item purchased was fitted to a 2003 Lexus LS 430. I used a mini screwdriver to pry the lock and make removal/installation easier as I hold the trunk with one hand and pry the lock with the other. I believe it would be more efficient if someone could prevent the trunk from falling during disassembly/assembly work. BTW, this item conforms to the specifications (compressed and uncompressed length) of the replaced part and works well when installed (plug and play item). In general I am satisfied with the purchase. In comparison, an OEM part costs $59 a piece or $118 a pair plus shipping vs. $25. Only time will tell how long this part lasts and we will be more than happy if it lasts 3 years.
