Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 264-239 Black Oil Pan: Top Quality Replacement for Optimal Performance by Richard Payne

Revainrating 4 out of 5

ONLY for traffic!

This oil pan will fit the JEEP 4.0L engine -- BUT as it DOES NOT have a side pan/oil deflector like the Original Equipment MOPAR oil pan, it is NOT a replacement oil pan for JEP engines. "4WD" or other off-road use. The OEM 'factory' oil pan has an oil baffle which prevents oil starvation on steep slopes - the DORMAN oil pan does NOT have this baffle and should NOT be used off-road! For road/highway use, this pallet is ideal as a cheap replacement for the original pallet. To ensure a good seal, place the pan on a flat concrete surface (sidewalk, patio, etc.) with the holes facing down and rock the pan back and forth as you press down. After a few strokes, turn the pan over to check the flatness of the surface - tap on the indentations - push the pan a little further onto the concrete and check for indentations again until the entire surface is level (paint is not rubbed off). When installing the oil pan and gasket (Fel-Pro OS34308R, not included) be sure to apply a liberal amount of sealant to the corner areas - PERMATEX ULTRA BLACK is the recommended sealant due to its excellent resistance to both conventional and synthetic oils.
