My 1996 XJ6 started to rattle in the front end from stock shocks and they not only solved the problem but greatly improved my handling. Now I'm going to change my rear shock absorbers. They come with all the hardware you need, although you still have to reuse two of the old shock mounts. This is not a problem as the bracket {large perforated washer} is fairly vehicle specific and is required to properly align the strut with the strut mount. There is a bushing in the upper bracket and the upper shock MUST be tightened until it contacts the bushing to ensure proper preload on the shock bracket. Otherwise the rattling will come back at some point.
