Review on HQUA TWS 12 UV Purifier Sterilizer for Optimal Purification by Mike Ogunlana

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent option for UV disinfection

I bought the HQUA-TWS-12 because of its space saving ability with input and output lines on one end of the unit. I still had to do some installation work to make sure everything fit how and where I wanted with minimal space. I didn't add sampling valves as recommended by the manufacturer because I have one right on the accumulator and there are a lot of faucets around the house anyway. I can pretty much check for bacteria in my incoming water and also in my pipes. Connecting and soldering the device took several hours, but the device feels solid. I had no issues with leakage after following the assembly instructions. All seals were included. I have a thermostat to prevent the water from heating up during periods without water (at night and when nobody is home). The device heats the water in the UV sanitizer to 80°C and turns off the light bulb. Once the cold water flow cools the unit down to 70, it will turn on again. With this setting, it doesn't take long for the lamp to come back on, so there's no UV loss with any amount of water. I had an issue where the ballast was not working properly. I emailed the seller and he responded quickly and within 3 days I had 2 new ballasts AND 2 new bulbs. Great response time and customer service, thanks James. My only concern is that the ballast is not certified by UL, CSA or ETL (USA/Canada) for North American safety. Being in the certification world, I understand the importance of this certification. However, the design of the ballast appears to be solid, although this cannot be said without testing against the standards in force. (UL-935)
