These are my favorite art supplies! I've been using these watercolor pencils (plus FC watercolor pencils) in my visual storytelling classes for over a decade. The participants of the master class - from preschoolers to seniors - never cease to admire the brightness of colors and how even a novice artist can create vivid images. I instruct the class to dip the tip of each watercolor pencil in a bowl of water (the longer you leave it there, the softer the pencil and the less likely the colors will streak) before painting with it. Or color it in like you would a pencil, then smudge the design with a damp Viva paper towel. (Only this brand of paper towels hasn't torn the 140 lb watercolor paper I use.) Watercolor pencils are reserved for additional detail work. Above are three examples of "illustration stories” drawn by refugee children using watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils. PS I have read complaints that the packaging is deteriorating quickly. As long as you (an adult) carefully insert and remove the plastic tray of crayons into the cardboard container, I have no problems. I've been using the same kits for a year or two and the packaging is still intact. I'd rather be careful than pay more for stronger packaging!
