These board shorts are very large for a size 5, my kid would need an extra 20lbs to even come close to putting them on but of course he was very excited and was immediately ripped off the tags , so we stayed with them. The drawstring is purely decorative and is literally sewn together, so there's no way to tighten the waist at all. My 8 year old son tried them on and the waist was too big even for him.
