Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good for $10 each.

Vehicle: 2001 Toyota Corolla with 139,000 miles. Problem: Rough idling, low consumption and stumbling when starting. My mechanic pulled out a code that indicated cylinder #3 was misfiring and needed a new coil. My local parts store wanted $60 for a one year warranty part and $75 for a lifetime warranty part. When I came across them I was quite skeptical. Only twenty reviews and not all are excellent. Since I had a bad coil on cylinder #1 two years ago ($120 at the store) I decided to pull the trigger and buy this set of 4. Here is my transparent review. First, in terms of cost if those parts fail in a year or two, I see no reason to complain. I paid for overnight delivery and still saved more than I would have paid for a single spool at my local auto parts store. Secondly, unless all of the ignition coils fail immediately, you really only need to replace the defective one. The reason I only gave this four stars is because these are definitely not OEM parts. I had to remove the boot and top gasket from the original part and put them on the new part as the new part has a smaller boot and different gasket design. In addition, the contact spring on the new part tended to fall out. I fixed this by applying a small dab of dielectric grease to the end of the spring and using needle nose pliers to "snap" the larger end of the spring into the coil while I had the boot off. When I tried to put the spool on without doing so, the spring fell into the housing. However, after I made these changes to the new part, it fitted perfectly. Plugged in battery and my car runs fantastic. All problems are gone. This part works perfectly and I have three more in case one or the other of the original parts fail. All in all I would highly recommend these reels if you understand what you are buying. Reasonably priced non-OEM parts that may last as long as original spools. but for the money they are worth it in my opinion. chance for.
