I assume the plug on each part sends the same beep to each of the sockets. So if either wire is plugged into the red (right) source, both jacks will carry that signal. So one of the two should be coded completely red and the other completely white. But actually both cables have a red and a white socket. The documentation should state exactly what the "pinout" is for these items. This color coding has consequences. If one adapter is connected to the right (red) RCA source and the other to the left (white) RCA source, the output (jacks) will be one pair R+W with correct polarity and the other pair with reversed polarity.
