Shimano plastic tool works great - it's just plastic. While the main tool is technically workable, it only works with BBs that have been previously installed with proper debugging and not bound at all. It is made of extremely light aluminum and will never withstand the force required to free a stuck cart. If you know your bottom bracket is properly tightened and corrosion-free, you can use this tool for a replacement or two, but it's worth it. Money to buy a similarly constructed steel tool, or better yet, a 3/8" screw tool that you can actually use as a torque wrench/crowbar for the rest of your life.
