Review on 🎨 Strathmore 400 Series Visual Watercolor Journal, 140 LB Cold Press, 5.5"x8", 22 Sheets - White by Amy Mcleod

I wish I could give this 4.5 stars! It's better than 4 but not quite 5 for me. This is a good watercolor sketchbook. The quality of the paper itself is excellent. It is textured as it should be when cold pressed and adheres well to different types of brushes and paints. I love the thickness of this paper, which is a huge improvement over the "mix media" sketchbook I used before. My biggest complaint is that the page size given is very literal. This is the corner-to-corner size of the paper in the sketchbook. The problem is that the spiral binding on the left takes up a good 0.5 inch of that space! At the same time I bought another 5.5 inch wide drawing pad (Canson Watercolor Pad) and was initially surprised that it didn't. wider. I found that it measures the page based on usable size while this one measures it based on actual size. If you're happy with a smaller canvas then that's fine, but if you're looking for a slightly larger size I'd suggest going with the Canson. Canson also has perforated pages, which is a nice feature if you decide to erase your work later.
