I've seen chain mail that you can buy but found them bulky and not very interesting. Just last night I was watching a cooking channel on youtube where it mentioned chain mail sponges. This sponge is just fantastic. Note: It's not actually a sponge, but it looks like it. It's a silicone rectangle with hexagonal holes inside to allow water to drain through the material. It reached several stages of doneness with ease (no cleaning other than a quick wipe with a paper towel). I didn't put much effort (no sweat) and constantly swirled the water in the pot. Now my pan looked a little dry afterwards (see photos), but that was to be expected. From what I've learned, this isn't a process you want to do all the time. If you do this frequently, be careful not to remove the spices. To be fair, my cast iron was recently purchased so it's not designed to last a lifetime. I highly recommend this product. Just the thought of cleaning my cast iron has become a lot less stressful.
