The one I found in my local shop was with spot magnets whereby only 5 set positions are available to hold knives and only on one side for a much higher price but with better wood and look. Naturally, I had to look for better alternatives here.This one may not look as good as the top tier kind but it has very strong magnet strips throughout both sides and can hold at least 5 to 6 large chef knives on each side. I am not a woodworker but I treated it with some food grade mineral oil making the wood slightly darker and looking better. A skillful woodworker can easily make it looking much more prestigious.
