Great price for charging stations

I bought this for my 2021 BMW 330e. The battery has only 12kWh, of which only about 10kWh can be charged. A BMW OEM charger (120V, 10A, 1200W I think) takes 9-11 hours to recover a battery from a low or dead battery. This charger can charge a battery in 2.5-3 hours from a low or dead battery. For the 330e, charging is limited to the car, I believe 3600 watts, so I think this charger is ideal. The loading pad can get a little warm during bulk loading, but works fine in the South Florida summer. It has rained many times and does not appear to have been affected. However, I would recommend putting a rain cover over it. As with all chargers, don't expect it to last forever. If I work with daily exercises for a year, I am happy. That's true, although I'm sure Elon would have disagreed. This is part of the cost of ownership of a PHEV or EV. Expect to spend an average of at least $200 a year on a charger. Cheap device, fancy device, it doesn't matter. $200 a year for the charger. It's funny how I've never had to spend money to install a gas pump in my house for my regular car. While I think this device is perfectly acceptable as a primary charger for a PHEV, I wouldn't consider it acceptable for an EV. Backup at its finest. I would take at least 240V, 32A, 7680W. While a 50 amp wall plug can deliver 240 volts, 40 amps and 9600 watts, remember that these loads are typically rated for a few amps output. Input amps can be higher, and the circuit breakers in your home can handle only 80% of the NEC nameplate rating indefinitely. Some people have reported problems using 40A chargers with a 50A plug where the breaker keeps tripping. That's why. Overall the device looks well made and the cable is long enough for my use. Time will tell reliability. If I get a year of it, then it was worth it. It's part of the running costs of a PHEV or EV, so deal with it.
