This is an amazing device for adding GPS functionality to marine VHF radios that have NMEA signal input cables on the back of the radio. Buy this production version of this unit, add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator and connect it to the radio and 12 volt power from the boat. Don't forget that voltage converter, because this device is designed for 5 volts, not 12 volts! You need to cut the PS-2 connector and expose the wires. Search the internet and you will find a schematic for this device. Observe the connection diagram for the power supply and signal output. If you look hard enough, the voltage regulator is a smaller, compact built-in converter that fits the bill quite nicely.
