Buy this production version of this unit, add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator and connect it to the radio and 12 volt power from the boat. Don't forget that voltage converter, because this device is designed for 5 volts, not 12 volts! You need to cut the PS-2 connector and expose the wires. Search the internet and you will find a schematic for this device. Observe the connection diagram for the power supply and signal output. If you look hard enough, the voltage regulator is a smaller, compact built-in converter that fits the bill quite nicely.
