Best GPS product I have used

Best GPS product I have used! Uses a SIRF 4 chip which acquires satellites very quickly. I have 2 of these that are used with Uniden scanners after changing the end of the connector.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Update available

Cute little GPS puck

Nice little GPS puck. Cut off the end and use 4 wires for your serial GPS project. Red +5 VDC, Black Ground, Green Data + (from GPS), White Data - (to GPS). Surprisingly fast acquisition of satellites. Default is 4800 baud and standard NMEA output.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • The list goes on.

Great GPS Receiver

I don't have a chartplotter on my boat so I used this inexpensive receiver to transmit GPS data (NMEA-0183) to my marine VHF radio. I simply cut off the connector and hardwired the receiver to a 5vdc power supply (a small buck regulator I bought off Amazon) and to the radio's data bus. It quickly locked onto the satellites and maintained reception no matter where I found the "puck" INSIDE my fiberglass boat. Worked great.

Pros
  • Cool
Cons
  • Makes me angry

Fantastic for TM-D710A

Bought this unit after reading another review about using it with TM-D710A. This machine works great and is purchased FAST. Really fast. All you have to do is apply 5V to it and connect the serial lines to the radio's 3/32" GPS cable and you're done. The 7805 regulator is cheap and easy to provide 5V from your vehicle's DC system. I used a small breadboard to wire everything up and stuffed everything into a small plastic box. Works like a charm for my mobile APRS/digipeater setup. (Edited toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Worked great for me

I bought this little guy to use with my Kenwood TM-D710A dual band ham radio. After cutting off the PS2 connector and soldering on the 1/8" headphone jack (and plugging in the 5v regulator in my car) I was ready to go. This thing draws so little current that I just turned it on the whole Keep time on and don't have to wait for block time when I leave.Works great with my APRS setup and should work fine for other things as well.I'll probably buy another one later this year for my high altitudeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • Can I add something

Excellent GPS mouse suitable for GPS, finders and accessories

Compact GPS mouse based on SiRF Star III. Works with SiRFDemo PC software as well as other host GPS packages. This is flashable firmware. Serial and USB versions work equally well. The serial version has a serial cable, but still requires some kind of power connected to that serial cable. You can modify the cable and connector or purchase an adapter key that will provide DB-9 function and power. The USB version requires no additional cables or connectors - just plug it into a USB port. Updatedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Always popular
Cons
  • Band

This is an amazing device for adding GPS functionality to marine VHF radios that have NMEA signal input cables on the back of the radio. Buy this production version of this unit, add a 12 volt to 5 volt regulator and connect it to the radio and 12 volt power from the boat. Don't forget that voltage converter, because this device is designed for 5 volts, not 12 volts! You need to cut the PS-2 connector and expose the wires. Search the internet and you will find a schematic for this deviceโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice looks
Cons
  • Some flaws
