I read many, many reviews before buying and comparing several binoculars. You keep reading that 8x42 is best for bird watching. I compared several 8x42 (we've had one for a few years) and 10x42. I like these binoculars a lot! They are so crystal clear and the extra magnification is just amazing. I don't experience any negative effects from this additional magnification, as is often mentioned in binocular reviews. I highly recommend it. I blind tested the binoculars (didn't know which one was 8x or 10x and didn't know which one was cheaper or more expensive. Turns out I liked the most expensive best. In this case, you get what you pay for!
