. I manually remove the accumulated lint, mostly in the center of the filter, and then take it outside and bang the filter against a tree or wall, depending on which way the wind is blowing. I tried washing them but the lint stuck together in the fabric and I couldn't remove it. I'm sure what gets into this filter depends on what type of carpet or flooring you have, but shaking out the dust worked much better for me.
