Today I used the EEEKit Pivot Spot Welding Torch for the first time. The spring inside the mandrel that pushes on the center point is too weak, causing the torch to try to jump off the weld and slide over the workpiece. I decided that a deep center mark in the center of the spot weld was a must for the tool to work. After that he acted, and half a dozen 20-gauge mild steel spot welds were cut fairly quickly. The cutters seem to be working fine and I can build myself a new shaft with a much heavier spring or see if I can fit a heavier spring into the current shaft.
