Review on Catit Nylon Adjustable Harness Medium Cats by Caryn Adams

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great fit and hard to avoid!

I bought this for my 7 month old (7.5 lbs or 3.4 kg) short haired house cat. Right out of the box it fits almost perfectly! I had to loosen the part that goes around its perimeter, but only a little. Two fingers can still fit between his body and the seat belt. It should be snug on your fingers, but this is how you test how tight it is on your pet. The harness itself consists of a ring that is worn around the neck like a collar (my cat has a collar and can wear both). Harness and collar at the same time without overlapping) and then another ring covering the cat's girth (behind the shoulders and under the belly). These two rings are connected by ONE strap that runs down the dorsal (upper) part of the cat's body. That's exactly what I wanted when I was looking at the dishes because it's harder for them to get out. BOTH rings are adjustable (another plus!) and the clasps are easy to open and close. I started putting it on him and just letting him play with it around our apartment. It will lie down or fall at first, but if you put it on your cat and then just play with his favorite toy, he'll get used to it pretty quickly. He loves laser pointers and string toys! Today I put the leash on and invited him for a walk, tugging lightly (just enough to feel a slight resistance between the leash and the harness). He is very motivated by food but I didn't have to use treats to get him to walk a few steps. Keep your training short and sweet. Set a small goal and as soon as you reach it or get close to it, do this session. Go ahead and do a few small sessions a day if you must, but keep them short! I don't plan on taking him outside for a few more days but the plan is to just take him outside and let him run around. in a very small circle if I walk too much. He was a vagrant and hadn't been out since we took him in about a month ago. As we continue outside, I'll ask him for more, but we're doing it rather slowly. In short, I would ABSOLUTELY buy one more of these with great pleasure! Our pet is microchipped and I encourage you to. same with yours. Our vet uses Avid (avidid.com).
