Review on Enhance Your Band Experience with the Shakespeare 4357S Band Separator: Multi-function Perfection by John Thawngzauk

Although VHF reception is good with this unit

This is not a Shakespeare set, it is a foreign brand. I decided to do it thinking it was from Shakespeare because of the title on the list. I should have looked at the picture. I only give 2 stars for two reasons: 1. For the price, the VHF connector should be soldered or at least not permanently connected to the box at one end. While this unit offers good FM reception, FM is mediocre at best and AM is almost non-existent. On my old boat, the AM/FM antenna was mounted on the bow rail and reception was better than with that arrangement. I saw many more stations more clearly on FM and had good AM reception. I was a bit disappointed with the reception quality after installing this unit on my current boat and had I not gone through the trouble of wiring and installing it I probably would have returned it. If radio reception is important to you, you should consider installing a dedicated AM/FM antenna on your boat. If you don't have room for another antenna, look here for similar devices and you'll find another "unbranded" device for about $20 less and you don't have to solder to connect.
